In the latest Research Excellence Framework (2021) Newman entered more than twice the number of staff than in 2014 when it made its REF debut.聽 All subject areas submitted were assessed as including a high percentage of 鈥榠nternationally significant鈥� work, while five subject areas 鈥� Education, History, Sport, Social Work and Social Policy, and English 鈥� were also assessed to produce work of 鈥榳orld-leading鈥� quality 鈥� the highest possible grade.
Whether foundational, applied or user-defined, our research is underpinned by a common aim to make an impact in society, contributing to social justice and well-being, to scientific, human, and cultural understanding, and to the sum of knowledge. It also encompasses community engagement, knowledge transfer and professional practice alongside discipline-based and pedagogic research.
